Michael Stafford
aka: Motion Guru

Principal and co-founder Michael Stafford provides a wide variety of multimedia services and 3D computer animation to clients throughout the country and the world, including Scotland and Brazil. With a long history in the oil and gas sector, Michael has had animations or multimedia presentations at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) nearly every year for the past 10 years.

Michael began his career as a draftsman working on offshore platforms, chemical plants, and paper mills. It was during his five years at Brown & Root working as a structural designer that Michael found his calling. Technology in the workplace was changing how his job was performed and Michael took note. He began training himself in Computer Aided Drawing (CAD), 2D and 3D work, and eventually computer animation.

In 1993, Michael took the bold step of opening his own firm, Stafford Design Service, and actually had SBC Yellow Pages create the new section of Multimedia Services for him. His very first job for oil and gas giant FMC, an animation for a Modular Cluster Manifold, was featured in the 1996 Computer Animation Festival of the American Computing Machinery (ACM) Special Interest Group - Graphics (SIGGRAPH). Since that time Michael has been on the forefront of the industry and gained an indepth knowledge of the equipment and running procedures common in the energy sector.

When he's not in the office building a new PC for his server farm or testing out some new software, Michael enjoys spending time animating short films, playing guitar, listening to the blues and drag racing his Harley.

Catherine (formerlyKomyanek) Stafford
aka: Ideas Guru

As a principal in Ideas in Motion, Catherine provides identity creation and management, graphic design and copywriting, advertising, website strategies and new media concepting. Before co-founding Ideas in Motion, Catherine managed CKLW New Communications 2, a full-service marketing communications firm.

Prior to founding her own firm, Catherine served as marketing director for a commercial real estate firm here in Houston. In this role, Catherine was responsible for overall branding of the firm, as well as advertising, brochure/newsletter and other collateral development, media and community relations, and internal communications.

While still in her hometown of Cleveland, Ohio, Catherine used her skills in marketing communications as account manager for a large healthcare delivery system. During her ten-year career there, she rose from a publications coordinator to a strategically-focused account manager responsible for the communications of several key divisions throughout the system.
